I read quite a number of Islamic book that contain how some prayers if recited in hundreds and thousands, will really help the reciter. For simple examples, reciter of Ayatul Kursi who recites it for 170 times a day, may, InsyaAllah, granted assistance from Allah to take him away from all kind of dificulties apart from ultimate peace of mind.
So how could we do it without any tasbih (prayer beads)in our hand.
I have been using Microsoft Excel for my prayer for quite a while. It's really simple and it helps. I typed the Ayat or Surah on the first line and copied it down and pasted in on the 170th line. I use cursor to go down. With this I gain more confidence that I would not miss a single line.
Maybe a modern method you should try out.
But don't forget, what ever we do ,all niat must be to gain blessing from Allah... And start it with Bismillah..
